José Antonio Seade Kuri

José Antonio Seade Kuri, Ph.D.

Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, Mexico

Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Oxford (England) in 1980, he pursued three postdoctoral fellowships at renowned institutions: the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in Bombay, India; the Institute des Hautes Études Scientifiques (IHES) in Paris, France; and the University of Geneva in Switzerland. Currently, he holds the position of full professor at the Institute of Mathematics at UNAM (Mexico).

He has supervised a total of 11 PhD students, 11 master's theses, and has mentored 10 postdoctoral researchers.

He has been twice awarded the Ferran Sunyer Prize and received the Solomon Lefschetz Medal, bestowed by the Mathematical Council of the Americas. Furthermore, he served as the president of the Mexican Mathematical Society during the 1986-1987 term. He founded the International Laboratory Solomon Lefschetz of Mathematics in Cuernavaca, Mexico, in association with CNRS in France, and served as its director from 2009 to 2022. Additionally, he held the position of director at Casa Matemática Oaxaca, and he was the director of the Institute of Mathematics at the National Autonomous University of Mexico for two terms, from 2014 to 2022.

He is author of 1 book, 3 research monographs, author of more than 74 research papers.

His research focuses on three main areas: Singularity Theory, Holomorphic Dynamics, and Foliations Theory

Marcos Pimenta

Marcos Pimenta, Ph.D.

Universidade Estadual Paulista Julio Mesquita Filho – Brazil

Degree in Mathematics from the Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho, Brazil. Magister and PhD degrees in Mathematics from the University of São Paulo, Brazil, in 2008 and 2011 respectively.

He is currently Associate Professor at the Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho since 2012 and coordinator of the Graduate Program in Applied and Computational Mathematics at the same university.

Winner of the Bolsa de Produtividade em Pesquisa CNPq (Research Productivity Grant). In 2017 he received the Young Investigator Training Program 2017 Fellowship award, Associazione di Fondazioni e di Case di Risparmio S.p.a. of the Università degli Studi di Urbino Carlo Bo.

Dr. Edson Sampaio

Edson Sampaio, Ph.D.

Universidade Federal do Ceará - Brazil

José Edson Sampaio holds a bachelor’s, master’s, and Ph.D. in Mathematics from the Federal University of Ceará (Universidade Federal do Ceará), having completed his doctoral degree in 2015. After his academic training, he carried out postdoctoral research at the Basque Center for Applied Mathematics (BCAM) in Bilbao, Spain (February 2018–January 2020), and since then has developed his academic career in the Department of Mathematics at the Federal University of Ceará, where he combines teaching, student supervision, and leadership in research projects.

His work focuses on Lipschitz Geometry, Singularity Theory, and Metric Topology, addressing problems such as the bi-Lipschitz classification of analytic sets, multiplicity invariance, regularity of sets, and the development of metric homology tools. He has a consistent scientific output that includes articles in specialized journals and participation in international conferences.

He has received several productivity fellowships from CNPq, attaining this year the Level A Productivity Fellowship in Research, the highest awarded by the agency. He has also won several research grants in Brazil, most notably the Serrapilheira Institute Grant. Recently, he was elected an affiliated member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences, and in 2025 he received the SBM Prize, a distinction of the Brazilian Mathematical Society recognizing outstanding work by young researchers in Brazil.
